We again joined the community of Randolph for their annual Arts and Crafts Festival. There were over 100 exhibitors for the day, most of them from the local area. This is a great turnout for a town of only about 1400 people!
We set up our tent and were again placed next door to our friends at Faith Bible Chapel, of Randolph. It is always good to be with fellow believers. Many of their church kids are our campers in the summer so it was good to catch up with campers and their parents who are looking forward to spending part of their summer with us again.
We also had some great conversations with people as far away as Jamestown, Frewsberg and Dunkirk who did not know about camp. We gave away a lot of camp brochures as well as Bible tracts and gospel CDs
Some Great Helpers!
We were so happy to have some extra helpers with us at the festival. The hay wagon rides have been particularly popular part of our festival involvement. This year we took our portable loudspeaker and were able to make the announcements ourselves up and down the street! Thanks to Joel Bodder for being our announcer and to Issac, Lydia and Rachel for accompanying him on his walking announcements
Andy Bennett and Amy Palmer |
Andy Bennett came all the way from Rochester for the day to drive our hay wagon. Amy Palmer came to help manage the loading and unloading of the wagon and accompany the groups on their route. Isaac Bodder helped with directing traffic and keeping everyone safe, while Rachel and Lydia took a few rides on the wagon to make sure everyone stayed seated and enjoyed the ride safely.
During the day John and Mary Cole took a break from their packing in preparation for their soon move to North Carolina. John and Mary have helped faithfully with this event for the past four or five years!
Hay Rides!
There were great opportunities to talk along the way and many stopped to get more information when the rides were done. Some knew us by name but had never visited and some of our greatest advertising was from kids on the hay ride who were current campers!
It is good to be a part of the community of Randolph. We pray that the many conversations we had on Saturday will result in some campers coming under the sound of the gospel!
Thanks again to Shirley, Doris, Andy, Amy, Isaac, Lydia, Rachel and Joel!
